Bowling: Shaw, Chapelle get Wednesday victories

Archbishop Shaw swept through the first two games en route to a 21-6 victory Wednesday over Pope John Paul II at Bowling USA in Slidell.

The Eagles (9-1) had games of 1,113 and 1,242 in building their insurmountable 16-0 lead. Joshua Collins had games of 226 and 246 to lead Shaw, while the Eagles’ right pair of Jonathan Arena (223-212), Andrew Hill (201-224) and Jonathan Freeman (206-219) each had a pair of 200 games.

Jack Kingman’s 176 final game and 447 series led the Jaguars (2-5).

Archbishop Chapelle 16½, Cabrini 10½: The Chipmunks rallied to defeat the Crescents at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner.

Chapelle (8-1) trailed 5-3 after a tight first game in which Cabrini took a five-pin edge in total pins, but the Chipmunks rallied to win 5½ points in game two to take an 8½-7½ lead. Cabrini (5-3) could not overcome a 23-pin deficit in the final game.

Gabrielle Fischer led Chapelle with a 529 series, including a 190 opening game. Jaiden DeGeorge paced Cabrini with a 215 middle game and a 545 series.
