Bowling: Rummel, Holy Cross, Chapelle score Wednesday wins

Riding the momentum of a big win Monday over Patrick Taylor, Archbishop Rummel clinched the match after two games in a 20-7 victory Wednesday over Pearl River at Bowling USA in Slidell.

Led by Joshua Doredant’s opening-game 189, the Raiders (5-2) jumped to an 8-0 lead, and Steven Mixon’s 198 and Matthew Fletcher’s 193 helped Rummel extend the lead to an insurmountable 15-1 through two.

Hayden Cantillo’s final-game 221 was the best of the day for Rummel, which used no bowler for more than two games.

Tyler Spiehler led Pearl River (3-4) with a 424 series, including a 188 final game.

Holy Cross 19, Pope John Paul II 8: Also at Bowling USA, the Tigers continued their winning ways by defeating the Jaguars.

Holy Cross (5-2) got a 577 series from Gabe Lucroy, who opened with a 213. The Tigers won seven of nine individual matches on the high pair, led by sweeps from Lucroy and Jairo Arguello.

Pope John Paul (1-4) was paced by Jack Kingman’s 421 series.

Archbishop Chapelle 25, Kenner Discovery 2: The Chipmunks swept through the final two games in defeating the Swamp Owls at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner.

Chapelle (6-1) got a season-best 565 series from Gabrielle Fischer, including a 209 middle game.

Taylor Daniels’ final-game 160 was the best of the day for Kenner Discovery (1-5).
