Bowling: Pope John Paul tops East Jefferson; key matches Thursday
Pope John Paul’s co-ed bowling team broke into the win column with a 21-6 victory Wednesday over East Jefferson at Bowling USA in Slidell.
The Jaguars (1-1) built a 13-3 lead after two games and used everyone on their roster. Jack Kingman had a 181 opening game and Makayla Doyle rolled a 425 series to lead PJP.
The Warriors (0-4) got a 429 series and two individual wins from Gunner Frazier.
The PJP-EJ match was the only one on Wednesday’s area schedule, but Thursday features a 11-match slate, keyed by a girls showdown at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner between Archbishop Chapelle and Academy of Our Lady, the only two remaining girls unbeatens.
Five teams remain unbeaten in boys/co-ed action and all are on the lanes Thursday – Jesuit (3-0) against Pearl River, Slidell (2-0) against St. Therese and and Archbishop Rummel (1-0) against St. Augustine at AMF, Holy Cross (2-0) against Brother Martin at Colonial Lanes in Harahan and Archbishop Shaw (1-0) against John Ehret at Westside Lanes in Harvey.
