Bowling: New Orleans area all-district teams announced

The top average bowlers on seven playoff-bound teams earned most valuable player honors on the all-district bowling teams selected by area coaches following the regular season.

Jesuit senior William Carpenter, who had a team-best 198 average, claimed MVP honors and led a Blue Jays sweep on the first team in District 1.

Brother Martin senior Ashton Catalinotto, who had a region-best 222 average, captured MVP honors in a deep District 2 that produced 10 qualifiers for the state singles championships.

Hunter Mullen of Slidell, a first-year program headed for the playoffs after a 10-2 regular season, was the MVP of District 3.

MVP Jonathan Arena finished with a 205 average and led an Archbishop Shaw sweep of first team all-district honors in District 4.

In District 5, Patrick Taylor’s Beckham Lieu earned MVP honors and led the Tigers to a district title.

Archbishop Chapelle, paced by the MVP efforts of Olivia Bares and her region-best 193 average, claimed five of the six first-team spots on the All-District 6 team.

In District 7, Academy of Our Lady senior Laney Sasso claimed MVP honors and was one of four Penguins on the first team.

Seven boys/co-ed and three girls teams from the New Orleans region begin their playoff runs this week.
