Bowling: Chapelle handles Chalmette girls while Owl boys defeat Rummel
It was a split for Chalmette in prep bowling action Monday afternoon at AMF All-Star Lanes in Kenner.
Archbishop Chapelle handled Chalmette 23-4 in girls action.
Coming off of a loss to Academy of Our Lady, the Chipmunks rebounded well, taking games one and two by 6.5-1.5 margins and winning game three 7-1.
In game one, Jessica Ladd had a 188 game while Bailey Hymel shot 162 for Chapelle while Allison Deffes fired a 210 for Chalmette.
In game two, Hymel fired a 193 game while Ladd shot 166 for the Chipmunks while Deffes had a 193 game for Chalmette.
In game three, Hymel was best for Chapelle with a 177 game to finish off a 532 series while Ladd had a 151 game to complete a 505 series. Deffes fired a 212 game to cap an outstanding 615 series for Chalmette while Raven Oro had a 145 game.
The Chalmette boys fared better, downing Archbishop Rummel 16-11.
The Owls started fast, winning game one 7-1 as Sebastian Maher fired a 206 game while Timothy Melerine had a 187 game. Luke Hightower recorded the only Rummel point with a 215 game.
The Raiders bounced back with a 5-3 victory in game two as Hightower fired a 214 game and Quin Cadella had a 207. Maher had a 176 while Colin Babylon shot 172 for Chalmette.
Rummel also won game three 5-3 as Josh Bares shot 176 and Hightower had a 175 game to complete a 604 series. Maher shot 201 to complete a 583 series for the Owls while Zechariah Ernest had a 184 game.
Despite winning two games, Rummel fell short as Chalmette won the decisive three bonus points, taking total pins 2,907-2894 in a close finish.
