Bowling: Brother Martin, Jesuit, Shaw, Chapelle all post shutout wins

Two-time defending state champion Brother Martin posted its second shutout win of the week, defeating Crescent City Christian 27-0 Thursday at Colonial Lanes in Harahan.

The Crusaders (2-0) substituted regularly, with no one bowling all three games. Drew Gardner had games of 212 and 203 to lead Brother Martin, while Carson Colletti had a 221 game.

Kuzi Rujawa’s 131 game led the Pioneers.

Brother Martin’s winning streak is now at 36 matches, dating back to the start of the 2018 season.

Jesuit 27, St. Therese 0: At AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner, the Blue Jays rolled a 3,390 team series in a shutout of the Phoenix.

Gary Sims had a 677 series, including a 264 final game, to lead Jesuit, which also posted a shutout for the second consecutive match. William Carpenter had a 233 middle game and 581 series and William Adams had games of 212 and 205.

Christian Ruiz paced St. Therese with a 441 series.


Archbishop Shaw 17, Patrick Taylor 10

Archbishop Shaw defeated Patrick Taylor 17-10 at Westside Lanes.

Joe Jimenez shot a 543 series, including a 200 game while Jonathan Freeman had a 207 game and won all three of his matches for the Eagles. Jacob King led Patrick Taylor with a 509 series.

Chapelle 27, St. Therese 0 (girls): Also at AMF, the Chipmunks opened their season with by blanking the Phoenix.

Jessica Ladd finished with back-to-back 234 games for a 637 series, while Sarah Rubi opened with a 216 and posted a 614 series and Madalyn Haas closed with a 202 for a 579 series.

Kaylor Grimm led St. Therese with a 394 series.
