Bleu Devils narrowly edge Tigers in GCAC Men’s Track & Field Preseason Poll
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Despite earning less first-place votes than Edward Waters College, the Dillard University men’s track & field team received enough votes to supplant the five-time defending champions in the GCAC Preseason Poll as voted on by the head coaches and released by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
There was not a GCAC Championship event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and most of the teams in the conference participated in one meet or were unable to compete at all.
EWC logged the most votes in the top spot with three, DU got two and Xavier tallied one but Dillard garnered 21 points compared to Edward Waters’ 19.
Dillard and Edward Waters occupy the top two positions, Xavier (La.) comes in third with its lone first-place vote and Philander Smith, Rust then Talladega make up the rest of the poll in that order.
