Area Prep Volleyball Report for Thursday, Sept. 8

It was a special day for Belle Chasse on the volleyball court Wednesday.

The Cardinals remained unbeaten with a convincing 25-10, 25-10, 2-6 home win over De La Salle.

Senior setter Jerne Colin reached a milestone with her 1,000th career assist.

Colin finished 14 assists, four kills and four aces.

Nya St. Cyr had six kills and five blocks. Tylen Bell added five digs.

Belle Chasse (4-0) will host St. Martin’s Episcopal next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. while the Cavaliers (0-1) will host Haynes, also next Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m.

Riverdale evened its record on the season with a 25-11, 25-9, 25-19 victory over Bonnabel at home.

The big weapon for the Rebel was the serve.

Lindsey Johnson led the way with nine aces and four assists, Isabel Cox had seven aces and two digs and Kyrie Hunter served six aces and had two kills.

Riverdale (2-2) is back in action tonight at 6 p.m. at Springfield. The Bruins (0-3) host West Jefferson today at 4:30 p.m.

Two-time defending Division III state champion Archbishop Hannan fought off Northshore in a five set thriller by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-10, 25-27, 15-10 at home.

Sophia Bonnafee had 18 kills 17 digs, four assists, three aces and a block. Carleigh Breaux had 16 kills and an ace. Sydney Grembowicz had 13 kills, four blocks, four assists and three digs.

Emily Brown finished with 13 digs and three aces. Miranda Holincheck had 11 digs. Mia Phillips added eight kills. Sarah Kirsch finished with an amazing total of 50 assists and had eight kills.

The Hawks (3-0) face a showdown against two-time defending Division I state champion Dominican Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in New Orleans while the Panthers (1-3) travel to Archbishop Chapelle next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Archbishop Chapelle remained unbeaten with a tough 19-25, 25-21, 29-27, 25-23 win at Hahnville.

Isabella McCann had 14 kills, Megan LaCour had 12 kills, Colleen O’Connor finished with 23 digs and two aces and Caroline Russo had 19 assists and a pair of aces to pace the Chipmunks.

Chapelle (8-0) will host Northshore next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. while Hahnville (4-2) will host John Curtis Christian next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Sacred Heart handled Cabrini 25-10, 25-21, 25-15 at Cabrini for its seventh straight win.

Cami Davis led the Cardinals with 11 Kills and two blocks while Kate Farris had nine kills and three aces. Brooke Habetz added 30 assists and Lucy Vaicius produced 30 digs.

Sacred Heart (8-1) returns to action this evening at home against Kenner Discovery at 5:30 p.m. while the Crescents (1-1) will host Warren Easton today at 4:30 p.m.
