LAKE CHARLES – Former McNeese pitcher Baylee Corbello has joined the Cowgirl softball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, head coach James Landreneau recently announced.

Corbello, a native of Moss Bluff, played for the Cowgirls in 2017 after playing the previous three years (2014-2016) at LSU.

With the Cowgirls, she posted an 11-5 record with a 3.33 ERA, 59 strikeouts in 98.2 innings with one shutout.

In her three years at LSU, she compiled a 28-5 overall record and was part of two Women’s College World Series teams (2015, 2016) while picking up her first collegiate no-hitter in 2015.

As a freshman, Corbello was a finalist for the inaugural NFCA D1 National Freshman of the Year award, was a third team NFCA All-South Region selection, named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and was named to several all-tournament teams as well as garnering numerous SEC and Louisiana Pitcher of the Week honors.

In her rookie season with the Tigers, she led the pitching staff in wins (19), complete games (240, shutouts (6), innings pitched (199.1) and strikeouts (188). The complete games are the most by an LSU freshman in team history, while the 19 wins are third most and her strikeouts are the second most by a pitcher in their first year at LSU.

While at Sam Houston High School, Corbello was a member of three state championship teams (2011, 2012, 2013), was a three-time LHSAA State Tournament Most Outstanding Player, named the 2012 and 2013 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year. The four-time all-state selection also picked up multiple MaxPreps All-American accolades.
