Basketball: Warren Easton, Rummel win season openers

Warren Easton and Archbishop Rummel opened their respective seasons with solid wins Monday.

The Eagles routed Cohen 87-47 at Cohen Monday evening.

Easton dominated from start to finish. Lance Madison led the way with 29 points while Jylon Morris-Newton added 24 points. Troy Joseph and Vernon Simms each posted double-doubles in a balanced effort. The Eagles will next play in the Grace King Tournament beginning Thursday in Metairie.

Archbishop Rummel opened its season with a 43-31 victory at home over Grace King Monday evening.

Senior Iman Fazande led the Raiders with 13 points while junior Donte Mitchell added 12 points.
The Raiders return to action Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic while the Fighting Irish will host Destrehan next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
