Area Prep Basketball Report for Wednesday, Nov. 20

Looking to continue rebuilding his program at Archbishop Rummel, Scott Thompson expects improvement in the 2019-20 season.

The quest began Tuesday night as the Raiders held off Lusher Charter 46-43 at the Rummel Gym.

The game was close throughout. Rummel led by two points after one quarter and one at halftime. It was tied going to the fourth quarter when the Raiders outscored the Lions 16-13 for the win.

Senior Kade Rivera led the way for Rummel with 22 points. Rummel struggled from the free throw line, making just 11-of-23 attempts, which allowed the Lions to stay close.

“It was a tough win,” Thompson said. “They made a lot of tough shots. Lusher execute very well and their system has been in place for years now and they are extremely well coached. Our offensive execution was better in the second half. We got to the basket and got good looks. Our team defense was strong throughout. We made some winning plays on both ends down the stretch.”

The Raiders will host Hammond Friday at 5:30 p.m. while Lusher will host De La Salle Friday at 6 p.m.
