It was a tough ending to the season for St. Paul’s last season.

The Wolves carried the lead into the final two minutes before succumbing at home to Brother Martin 69-66 in the Division I quarterfinals.

With a solid nucleus returning, the 2017-18 season should be another good one for the Wolves. They are certainly off to a good start.

Senior guard Parker Edwards pumped in 26 points to guide St. Paul’s to a 58-47 victory at Karr Tuesday evening.

The Wolves jumped on top early, grabbing a 13-6 lead after one quarter before expanding the lead to 32-15 by halftime. The Cougars played better in the second half, outscoring St. Paul’s 32-26 but it was not enough.

Devonte Allen added 13 points and six rebounds for St. Paul’s while Chandler Owenby had nine points and six rebounds.

Karr placed three players in double figures, including Bowie with 13, Jordan with 12 and Shields with 10 points.

The Wolves next travel to Forrest City, AR for The Rumble on The Ridge tournament Nov. 23-25 while the Cougars travel to Carver Thursday for a 6 p.m. contest.
