Basketball Report: St. Paul’s boys, East St. John girls win

St. Paul’s rebounded from a tough two-point loss to El Dorado, AR with a solid 67-57 win over Lanier, AL Friday at the Rumble on The Ridge in Forrest City, AR.

The Wolves trailed 16-10 after one quarter and 32-27 at the half but the second half belonged to St. Paul’s. The Wolves outscored Lanier 20-12 in the third quarter to take a 47-44 lead before winning the fourth quarter 20-15 for the victory.

The Wolves (2-1) will play Humboldt, TN this afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

In girls action, East St. John is a definite team to watch this season.

The Wildcats used a second half surge to remain unbeaten with a 42-34 win over Cabrini Friday.

Cabrini controlled the first half, taking a 14-9 lead after one quarter and a 24-19 lead into halftime. East St. John cut the deficit to 29-28 after three quarters before the Wildcats dominated the final frame, outscoring the Crescents 14-5 to take the victory.

East St. John (5-0) returns to action Tuesday at East Ascension at 5:30 p.m. while the Crescents (2-4) will host Salmen Tuesday at 6 p.m.
