It has been a building process for Holy Cross under head coach Mister Kirkwood.

The Tigers are improving annually and hope to make a serious playoff run in the 2017-2018 season.

Holy Cross took a positive step forward Monday evening with a convincing 76-42 home victory over Cohen.

The Tigers jumped all over the Green Hornets early, blitzing Cohen with a 19-0 run to take a 21-2 by the end of the first quarter to effectively put the game away. The lead grew to 42-13 at the half and Holy Cross coasted the rest of the way.

Kalin Thomas was a force with 10 points and 16 rebounds while Sidney Madlon led three players in double figures with 15 points for the Tigers () while Kalil Aaron Ursin added 10 points.

Caleb Stearns, Bryson Gonzales, David Barnes, Kolbe Cage and Tyler Kirkwood are all back from football for the Tigers, bolstering the squad for coach Mister Kirkwood.

“We have a full squad,” Kirkwood said. “We played okay last night but we still have guys who are a little rusty. We will get better game-to-game. We feel there is ability here but we have to become more cohesive. That will improve and must improve now that we have everyone in the fold.”

Holy Cross lost its opener 58-49 to a very good Newman squad on Nov. 14.

The Tigers (1-1) host Lake Area New Tech tonight at 7 p.m.
