In any sport, it is a great rivalry with young men who are often neighbors, friends, and have played together at playgrounds.

That is the case whenever McDonogh 35 and St. Augustine get together.

The Gentilly neighbors hook up Monday night at St. Augustine at 7:15 p.m. in basketball.

The Roneagles (2-1) have wins over Grace King and West Jefferson and lost to Warren Easton. The Purple Knights (2-1) have wins over Lake Area New Tech and Karr and lost to Helen Cox.

In girls action, Helen Cox (5-1) plays host to West Jefferson at 6 p.m. The Cougars opened the season 5-0 before falling to East St. John in the St. Mary’s Academy Tournament. The Buccaneers (1-3) opened the season with a win over KIPP Renaissance but have lost their last three games.
