Basketball: M.L. King boys win, Curtis, Ehret girls victorious Thursday

Area Prep Basketball Report for Friday, Jan. 24

The M.L. King Charter Jaguars boys took care of business Thursday.

The Jaguar boys handled Abramson Sci Academy 58-37.

M.L. King dominated from start to finish, building a huge lead and coasting to the win.

John Holmes and Owen Pickens each scored 11 points and Jucovni Peters added 10 points for M.L. King Charter (8-12).

In girls action, 3-time defending state champion John Curtis Christian downed Dominican 52-38 in District 9-5A action to remain unbeaten in the league.

Curtis led 15-9 after one quarter and 29-9 at halftime, putting the game away by shutting out Dominican in the second frame. It was 38-18 going to the final quarter.

Jerkaila Jordan scored 11 points while Jordan Barfield added 10 points for the Lady Patriots (18-3, 3-0). Emily Adams topped Dominican (17-7, 1-2) with 18 points.

John Ehret handled Riverdale 58-37 in District 8-5A play at home.

Junior Kristen Conner had 11 points, 11 rebounds and three steals while sophomore Jasyria Frazier added 11 points for the Lady Patriots.

Ehret (15-6, 2-0) has now won six straight games. Riverdale fell to 7-6, 0-2 in district play.
