Basketball: Karr girls edge B.T. Washington
Area Prep Basketball Report for Tuesday, Dec. 3
Make it five in a row for Edna Karr.
The Cougars rallied past Booker T. Washington 34-33 at home Monday in a very good contest.
The Lions led 15-12 after one quarter and took a 27-18 lead into halftime. The Cougars begin their comeback in the third quarter, outscoring B.T. Washington 7-2 to cut the deficit to 29-25 going to the fourth quarter. Karr outscored the Lions 9-4 in the final frame to post the win.
Sophomore Tia Shelling led the Cougars with 11 points and five rebounds while senior Taliyah Ruffin added six points and five rebounds. Sophomore Yanila Morales scored just two points but added seven rebounds, six steals and four assists in an all-around performance.
Karr (6-1) returns to action next Tuesday at West Jefferson at 4 p.m. while Booker T. Washington fell to 3-4 with the defeat.
