Area Prep Basketball Report for Thursday, Dec. 9

A team to watch in girls basketball is Archbishop Chapelle.

The Chipmunks are off to a very good start to the 2021-22 season.

Chapelle won its fifth straight game Wednesday evening, 41-31, at Dutchtown.

The Chipmunks shutout the Griffins in the opening quarter to take an 8-0 lead before leading 21-12 at halftime. It was 25-17 going to the fourth quarter.

Baylie Carroll led Chapelle with 23 points and five assists, Kaylee Dublin had eight points and three blocks and Delaney Trosclair finished with seven points.

“We are slowly learning how to play as a team and starting to believe in one another,” Chapelle head coach Mike Kracjer Jr. said. “We still have plenty of things to improve on.”

The Chipmunks (7-1) return to action Friday, hosting Slidell at 6 p.m. while Dutchtown (5-2) will play at Mentorship Academy Friday at 6 p.m.
