Basketball: Carver boys, PJP girls win Wednesday
Area Prep Basketball Report for Thursday, Feb. 13
Make it six in a row for Carver.
The Rams went to the West Bank and downed Karr 69-59 Wednesday evening.
Carver (21-8) concludes its regular season next Tuesday at Crescent City Christian while Karr (13-16) returns to District 10-4A action to host New Orleans Military & Maritime this evening at 6 p.m.
With a great future ahead of him, talented six-foot-7 sophomore Solomon Washington led a balanced Rams attack with 16 points, 12 rebounds and he blocked 10 shots. Sophomore Dorian Finister had 15 points, senior Michael Pajeaud had 14 points and five assists and senior Ray Walker scored 10 points for Carver.
In girls action, Pope John Paul II downed Phoenix 37-23 in Slidell.
Phoenix took a 9-7 lead after one quarter before the Jaguars shutout Phoenix in the second quarter to take a 12-9 lead. Pope John Paul II pulled away in the third quarter to take a 29-15 lead.
Junior Lindsey Nave led Pope John Paul II with 13 points, senior Morgan Faciane scored 10 points and junior Madayln Gonlag finished with six points for the Lady Jags.
The Jaguars snapped a 16-game losing streak. Pope John Paul II (3-20) plays at Doyle Friday night in District 10-2A action to complete the regular season. Phoenix finished its regular season 4-11.
