Basketball: Brother Martin stays unbeaten, Mandeville girls win
Brother Martin remained unbeaten with an easy 69-26 win Thursday over Central Lafourche in the H.L. Bourgeois Tournament.
The Crusaders (10-0) placed four players in double figures, including two-sport star Clayton Lonardo, who just joined the team from football. Lonardo scored 12 points, as did Ray Lotten. Jace Patin finished with 11 points and eight rebounds and Corey Skillman had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
In girls action, Mandeville went to Lakeshore and won 59-26.
Sophomore Saleigh Berry led the Lady Skippers with 18 points, six steals and three rebounds while sophomore Hannah Benoit scored 14 points with nine rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Mandeville (5-5) will open District 6-5A play next Tuesday at home against Hammond at 6 p.m. while the Titans (1-7) will play next Friday at Fontainebleau.
