Basketball: Brother Martin cruises past Jesuit
Area Prep Basketball Report for Saturday, Feb. 15
Looking to improve its seeding for the upcoming Division I playoffs, Brother Martin looked sharp Friday night.
The Crusaders started fast and finished well in a convincing 73-48 win at Jesuit in District 9-5A action to complete a district sweep of the Blue Jays. Brother Martin beat Jesuit 54-35 on Jan. 21.
Brother Martin blitzed Jesuit early, jumping out to a 29-8 lead after one quarter and it was never close. The Crusaders led 41-20 by halftime. It was 59-33 after three quarters.
Brock Ranlett led a balanced attack with 16 points and five rebounds, Corey Skillman had 14 points, TJ Small had 12 points and four rebounds and Davonn Moore added 12 points.
Brother Martin is fourth in the most recent Division I power ratings.
Brother Martin (26-5, 7-3) will host Holy Cross Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Tigers rallied past the Crusaders 74-71 on Jan. 24. The Blue Jays (15-14, 3-7) will host Archbishop Rummel Tuesday at 7 p.m.
