Basile, De La Salle with several seeds entering Division III state wrestling championships
Defending state champion Basile is still the team to beat in the 2022 LHSAA Division III state wrestling tournament this Friday and Saturday at Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge.
The Bearcats have four top seeds among the seeds announced Monday evening.
Those include Andre Johnson (126), Luc Johnson (138), Christian Bergeron (182) and Anphrony Guillory (285). Basile has a second seed in Jayden Guillory (120).
De La Salle will be a primary threat to unseat Basile as champion.
The Cavaliers have three top seeds, including Dylan Duvernay (106), Collin Veron (132) and Liam O’Connor (145). De La Salle also has three second seeded wrestlers, including Spencer Hughes (152), Luke Robertson (170) and Jason Krail (182).
St. Louis Catholic will contend and the Saints have a pair of top seeds in Luke Caballero (113) and Henry Milligan (220), along with a second seed in Henry Hebert (126).
Archbishop Hannan has two top seeds in Preston Gautier (152) and Grayson Pennison (160).
Other teams to watch include Brusly, Bossier, Evangel Christian and John Curtis Christian
