Baseball Report: Rummel, St. Charles Catholic open play Thursday in Trey Altick Tournament

A pair of teams that have looked good early in the season face stiff road challenges in the Monroe area starting today.

Archbishop Rummel and St. Charles Catholic are participating in the annual Trey Altick Tournament, featuring several of the top teams in Louisiana.

The Raiders (5-0) open play against Captain Shreve (3-1) today at 4:30 p.m. at Ruston while the Comets (1-2) take on East Ascension (3-2) at 3:30 p.m. in Monroe.

The Raiders won all four games in the WGNO Classic and have scored 47 runs in five games. The Comets have lost to the top two teams in the state in Division I in John Curtis Christian and Catholic of Baton Rouge and have a win over Lutcher.

Holy Cross is also participating in the tournament and will open play Friday.
