Baseball Report: Riverdale stays hot with win over Patrick Taylor
Area Prep Baseball Report for Saturday, April 20
It was Senior Day for Riverdale and it was a good Friday for the Rebels on Good Friday.
Riverdale scored three runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Patrick Taylor, 7-3, at Bonnabel Stadium.
After the Tigers scored single runs in the top of the second and third innings, Riverdale answered with single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to make it 5-2. The Rebels scored twice more in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-2 before Patrick Taylor scored a run in the seventh inning to complete the scoring.
Alan Castro picked up the win with a solid effort. Caleb Laird went 2-for-2 with two RBI while Demar Brashears was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Riverdale (17-9).
Patrick Taylor (10-13) got a hit and an RBI from eighth-grader Anson Mo-Billiot and junior Colton Schnabel while sophomore Grant Roberts also drove in a run.
Riverdale has won eight of its last nine games and will next participate in the Class 4A state playoffs as a road team. Patrick Taylor has now lost five straight games and the Tigers will close their season against Crescent City Christian Saturday at 2 p.m.
