The number 13 is not unlucky for Northshore.

When you are exceptional, a little luck is welcomed but is seldom needed.

The Panthers won their 13th consecutive game, whipping Mandeville 13-6 at Mandeville Wednesday to complete a two-game District 6-5A sweep of the Skippers. The game was moved up from Thursday due to the impending bad weather expected today.

Northshore jumped on top with two runs in the top of the first inning and stretched the lead to 5-0 in the third. After Mandeville got a run in the third and two in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 5-3, the Panthers broke the game open with three runs in the fifth and sixth innings and two more in the seventh. Mandeville scored three runs in the sixth to complete the scoring.

Kraig Segrave picked up the win for the Panthers, going six innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out six. Jeremy Martin pitched the final inning for the Panthers. Hunter May was the hitting star for the Panthers, going 3-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBI while Mikey Stutes had two hits and an RBI, while Cole Cavallo and Brayden Jobert each had two RBI as part of an 11-hit attack.

Zack Farr took the loss for Mandeville, lasting four and a third innings, giving way to David Theriot. Michael Lemmond had two hits, including a home run and three RBI for the Skippers while Spencer Andres had two hits and an RBI. The Skippers committed six errors.

Ranked seventh in the most recent LHSAA Class 5A power rankings released Tuesday, Northshore (20-1, 6-0) travels to Brusly for a 1:30 p.m. game Saturday before resuming district play Tuesday at Hammond. Mandeville (14-6, 4-2) will host Slidell next Tuesday in 6-5A action.
