Hahnville is always a force to be reckoned with on the diamond, a perennial, consistent playoff team. The Tigers know how to win close games under adverse circumstances.

That was the case Monday afternoon at Noel Suarez Stadium.

Trailing 3-2 in the fifth inning, senior Beau Landry came up with the bases loaded and delivered a base-clearing double to give the Tigers the lead and the lead held up in a 5-3 victory.

Landry also came on in relief and pitched three shutout innings to pick up the save. Landry fanned four Owls. Sophomore Jack Stumbo started and went four innings and pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth inning to pick up the first win of his varsity career.

The Tigers were coming off of a tough 2-1 loss to Dutchtown in a tournament at East Ascension Saturday on a walk-off home run. Now 3-2, the Tigers return to action Thursday, hosting De La Salle at 3:30 p.m. in the Jesuit Tournament. The Owls fell to 1-4 and will host Warren Easton this evening at 6 p.m.

In a top game today, defending Division III state champion Riverside (3-0) takes its unbeaten mark to Mandeville to take on Lakeshore (1-3) at 3:30 p.m. The Rebels have wins over Covington, Grace King and Haynes. The Titans have played a very tough early schedule, losing to Parkview Baptist, Northshore and St. Thomas Aquinas while defeating Slidell.
