Area Prep Baseball Report for Wednesday, March 27

Make it three straight wins for Fisher.

The Gators scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk off with an 7-6 victory over Country Day Tuesday at Lafitte.

Things did not look good early for Fisher.

Country Day erupted for five runs in the top of the first inning and it looked like it may be an easy day for the Cajuns. Fisher battled back with two runs in the bottom of the third inning to make it 5-2 before Country Day scored a run to make it 6-2 in the top of the fourth.

Fisher cut the deficit to 6-4 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Gators picked up a run in the sixth and tied it with a run in the seventh to force extra innings.

Fisher plated the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Maddox Perrin had a hit and two RBI for Fisher (8-3) while Trey Usey had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Jacob Russell added three hits for Fisher.

Usey picked up the win in relief, pitching the final two innings, retiring all six batters he faced, striking out four. Wyatt Horne pitched the first four innings for the Gators, allowing six runs on seven hits. He walked nine and struck out five. Jacob Maise pitched two perfect innings before giving way to Usey.

Fisher will hit the road to face Newman Thursday at 6 p.m. in the District 12-2A opener for both teams while Country Day (4-4) plays at Bonnabel Friday at 6 p.m.
