Baseball Playoff Report: West St. John, Kentwood look to reach quarterfinals Monday

A pair of area teams are in action in the Class 1A regional round today.

No. 14 West St. John travels to No. 3 LaSalle at 5 p.m.

The Rams (9-10) advanced by whipping No. 19 South Cameron 10-1 in the bi-district round, scoring five runs in the fourth inning to break the game open. Niko Roy had a pair of RBI doubles and an RBI single while Kylan Duhe had a two-run triple to pace the Rams offense. Jalen Walker picked up the win for West St. John.

LaSalle (13-9) had a bye in the opening round.

No. 3 Kentwood will host No. 14 Delta Charter at 4 p.m.

The Kangaroos (10-10) had a bye in the opening round. After starting the season 0-4, the Kangaroos went 10-6 the rest of the way to earn the third seed.

Delta Charter handled No. 20 Block 13-1 in five innings in the opening round. Triston Higgins pitched a six-hitter for the Storm (7-15). Trey Poole belted a two-run home run while Freddie Mango had three hits, including a double and a triple as part of an 18-hit attack for Delta Charter.
