NEW ORLEANS – On Thursday afternoon, it was all about senior left-hander Rochon Mackie at Wesley Barrow Stadium.

Mackie pitched a two-hitter and struck out 14 as Booker T. Washington blanked Ben Franklin 5-0. He exhibited outstanding control, walking just one.

Mackie helped himself, producing a two-run double in the fifth inning to break open a close game.

The Lions scored a run in the top of the fourth inning and Mackie’s double in the fifth made it 3-0. Booker T. Washington stole another run in the sixth and in the seventh, Kelby Henderson singled and came around to score with excellent baserunning.

The Falcons got one runner to third base but could not break through against Mackie.

Both teams return to action next Tuesday with Booker T. Washington (3-4) facing Kenner Discovery while Ben Franklin travels to John Ehret.
