Area Prep Baseball Report for Sunday, Mar. 12

It was a wild contest at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

In the end, John F. Kennedy outscored McDonogh 35 by a 16-15 margin in a long game Saturday.

The Cougars opened with four runs in the top of the first inning before the Roneagles answered with three in the bottom the frame. Kennedy added three runs in the second to make it 7-3 before McDonogh 35 scored twice in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 7-5.

Kennedy added to the lead with two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take an 11-5 lead. The Roneagles countered with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 11-10.

The wild seventh inning saw the Cougars scored five runs in the top half before the Roneagles scored five in the bottom half but it was not enough.

Angel Alexis and Lionel Augustin each had two hits and two RBI to pace the Cougars while Terrell Domino had two hits and an RBI.

John F. Kennedy (2-4) returns to action Monday at 4 p.m. at John Ehret.

McDonogh 35 (1-8) lost its eight straight game and the Roneagles will play Douglass on Monday at 6 p.m.
