Area Prep Baseball Report for Friday, Mar. 13

In Tournament play at Hammond, Fontainebleau downed Springfield 5-1.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead, scoring twice in the top of the second before adding a run in the fourth and two runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Bulldogs scored their run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Brock McNeill belted a 2-run home run for the Bulldogs. Preston Canale had two hits, Logan Goodreau and Jeff lee each had a hit and an RBI and Victor Schilleci V each drove in a run for Fontainebleau.

Goodreau was outstanding on the mound, going the distance, allowing a run on five hits. He walked no one and struck out seven, using just 77 pitches.

Fontainebleau (5-6) continues in the tournament today, playing at Lakeshore at 3 p.m. After winning its first six games of the season, Springfield (6-4) has lost four straight.
