Delgado defeated Nunez Community College in both games of Saturday’s conference doubleheader, closing out its regular season schedule at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

In the first game, Brennan Lambert’s double in the first plated Ethan Lege for the game’s first run. A solo homerun by Nunez’s Cyril Gusman tied the game 1-1 in the third.

In the fourth, Lane LeBlanc reached on a leadoff walk and scored on a double by Chris Collet to regain Delgado’s lead. Collet scored on a double by Connor Feustle before Feustle scored on a triple by Brayden Jobert to give Delgado the 4-1 lead through four innings of play.

Brennan Lambert led off the fifth inning with a homerun for Delgado’s fifth and the game’s final run before the Dolphins took the 5-1 victory.

Starting pitcher Hunter Draper pitched into the sixth inning to earn the win with Kaile Levatino earning the save in the seventh.

Delgado took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of game two when Brayden Caskey reached on a double before scoring on a single by Brayden Jobert. Nick Lorio reached on a leadoff walk in the fourth before scoring on a double by Tyler Wilson, who later scored on a wild pitch for a third Delgado run.

In the fifth, Lorio and Wilson each reached base on singles for Sean Fasano’s triple drove in both runners. Back-to-back singles by Bryan Broussard and Branyan Bounds combined to add three runs in the eighth for the Dolphins’ eventual 8-2 triumph.

Nunez’s two runs came when Harrison Boudreaux scored on a groundout in the seventh and Landon LeBlanc singled in a run in the eighth.

Delgado starter Cory Cook pitched four innings for the win, Zane Zeppuhar appeared in relief for four innings for the hold and Carson Lore closed the ninth inning to seal the conference series sweep of the Pelicans.

Delgado (31-11, 13-3) will host the Region XXIII Division I Tournament next Friday through Sunday at Kirsch-Rooney. The three team double elimination tournament opens Friday with the winner advancing to the NJCAA South Central District Championship series in Oklahoma.
