Baby Cakes win see-saw battle at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Eddy Alvarez hit a home run and went 3-for-3 while driving in four runs and scoring two in pacing the New Orleans Baby Cakes to a 8-7 win Tuesday night over the Las Vegas Aviators.

In a back-and-forth affair, the Aviators had the lead twice in the late innings and surrendered it both times. The ‘Cakes grabbed the lead for good in the eighth scoring three runs off of AJ Puk.

The two-run single from Alvarez put the ‘Cakes on top to stay. Brett Graves earned his first Triple-A victory out of the bullpen, and RJ Alvarez pitched the ninth for his 14th save.

The ‘Cakes were out hit 13-6 but took advantage of three errors.

GAME NOTES – New Orleans improved to 19-9 in series openers.

UPCOMING – The ‘Cakes continue their seven game road-trip on Wednesday at 9pm in Las Vegas.
