Baby Cakes win in first road game of season, 4-3, at Iowa

DES MOINES – The New Orleans Baby Cakes took advantage of three walks, a hit batter and an error in the seventh inning to score the go-ahead run in a 4-3 victory tuesday night over the Iowa Cubs.

Austin Dean and Harold Ramirez each had two hits and an RBI in the first New Orleans road victory. Starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez worked five innings, allowing two runs on four hits in a no decision.

Mike Kickham earned the win in relief for the ‘Cakes, working two innings. Jose Quijada pitched the final two innings and earned his second save of the season.

GAME NOTES: New Orleans added pitcher Kyle Keller to the roster from Class AA Jacksonville. The ‘Cakes placed pitcher Jeff Brigham on in the injured list.

UPCOMING: The ‘Cakes and I-Cubs meet in the second game of the three game series on Wednesday evening at 6:38 p.m.
