Baby Cakes drop 11-10 slugfest to Storm Chasers
Papillion, Neb. – Jecksson Flores lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Brett Phillips in the ninth inning Wednesday night to give the Omaha Storm Chasers an 11-10 win over the visiting New Orleans Baby Cakes.
A wild offensive game saw both clubs hit four home runs, and New Orleans out-hit Omaha 17-15 in the contest.
The ‘Cakes got home runs from Wilkin Castillo, Gabriel Guerrero, Deven Marrero and Peter O’Brien.
Kyle Zimmer earned the win for Omaha and Jeff Brigham suffered the loss allowing an unearned run in the ninth.
Omaha took a 2-1 lead in the series with the victory. The ‘Cakes are 52-44 on the season to fall nine games back of first place San Antonio in the division.
GAME NOTES: The games first pitch was 95 degrees with a heat index of 112. The time of game 3:56 was the longest of the season.
