George Faust
George Faust has been Sports Director at KLFY since June of 2005, and in sports in Lafayette since 2003. Before joining News 10, he worked at KPLC-TV station in Lake Charles, LA. George also worked in Meridian, MS at WMDN-TV, and in Columbus, MS at WCBI-TV. He anchors the award winning High School Football Show: 1st and Ten, and Louisiana Open Extra, a special on the Web.com Tour event in Broussard. Under George’s guidance, KLFY News 10 Sports created the first High School Basketball Show in Louisiana, called Full Court Press!
His journalism career began long before his graduation from The University of Mississippi where he earned a Broadcast Journalism Degree, and a minor in Southern Studies. George has been in the “business” since he was senior at Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, LA, thanks to an internship at WWL870AM with Ken Trahan and WWL-TV in New Orleans.
By far, the thrill of his career, so far, is being able to cover the 2009-2010 New Orleans Saints along the journey to the franchise’s first Super Bowl Championship. “Being in Miami for the Saints first Super Bowl win is a life-long dream for me,” remembers George. He’s covered LSU in 3 National Championship games, UL-Lafayette in 5 New Orleans Bowl Games, and many other bowl games.
George’s chance to conduct a one-on-one interview with Golf Legend Jack Nicklaus ranks up there, also.
George is a die-hard New Orleans Saints and Pelicans fan. His favorite baseball team is the Chicago Cubs. When he’s not watching sports, he looks forward to spending time with his wife, Cassidy, and their 4 children Parker, Savannah, Harrison, and Meredith!
