Atonement Lutheran to host regional basketball tourney beginning Thursday

Middle school basketball teams from four states will converge on Atonement Lutheran School in Metairie for the annual Lutheran Regional Basketball Tournament Thursday through Saturday.

“Mardi Gras Madness VI” is a round-robin event beginning with six games Thursday starting at 2 p.m. Six more games are scheduled for Friday, preceded by a cheer competition at 1:15 p.m. Saturday’s eight-game schedule begins at 8 a.m.

Teams from Grace Lutheran School of Huntsville, Alabama; St. Stephens Lutheran School of Hickory, North Carolina; Emmanuel Lutheran School of Asheville, North Carolina, and First Lutheran School of Knoxville, Tennessee, are traveling to Louisiana for the annual tournament, which rotates host sites among the participating schools. St. John Lutheran School in New Orleans is also participating in this year’s girls’ tournament.

Tickets are $4 for a single-day admission or $10 for a three-day pass. Children 5 and under are admitted free.
