Astros star Correa to play on rehab assignment with Express at The Shrine this weekend

Former American League Rookie of the Year scheduled to play Saturday and Sunday for Round Rock

Metairie, La. – Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will be continuing a Major League rehab assignment at the Shrine on Airline on Saturday and Sunday when the New Orleans Baby Cakes host the Round Rock Express.

The first overall selection in the 2012 Draft, Correa made his big league debut with Houston in 2015 and went on to win American League Rookie of the Year. In 2017, he earned All-Star honors by setting career highs with a .315 batting average and 24 home runs in helping the Astros win their first World Series championship.

In five seasons, Correa is a .279 hitter with 92 home runs and 348 RBI in 521 games. He was batting .295 in 50 games this season when he was placed on the injured list on May 29 due to a fractured rib.

Saturday’s game is set for a 6 p.m. start, while Sunday’s series finale is at 1 p.m.
