Softball: Pope John Paul II outscores Fisher

Area Prep Softball Report for Thurs., Mar. 4

Pope John Paul II made the trip to Lafitte and came away with a 17-9 victory over Fisher Wednesday.

The Jaguars took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and made it 3-0 with a run in the third. The Gators scored twice in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Then, Pope John Paul II exploded for 10 runs in the top of the fourth to break it open at 13-2. Fisher battled back with a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 13-3 and scored six runs in the fifth to get back in the game at 13-9 but the Jaguars put the game away with four runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Pope John Paul II (2-2) hosts Pearl River today at 3:30 p.m. while Fisher (2-1) will host Higgins next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
