Slidell handles Lakeshore in softball

Slidell was impressive from start to finish in a 14-1 victory at home against Lakeshore Friday in a game which ended in the fifth inning by the mercy rule.

The Tigers seized control from the start, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning, adding a run in the second and putting up three runs in the third to make it 6-0. The Tigers posted an 8-run fourth inning to put the game away.

Slidell banged out 14 hits and allowed just one hit behind the outstanding effort of Jaida Sorapuru.

The Tigers (2-3) return to District 6-5A action at Hammond Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. while the Titans (1-3) dropped their third straight game after opening the season with a victory and will play at Albany Tuesday at 6 p.m.
