Area Prep Soccer Report–Mount Carmel wins Mandeville Tournament

Make it three straight tournament victories for Mount Carmel.

The defending Division I state champion Cubs proved that they could be the best team in the classification again.

The Cubs avenged an earlier season loss, edging Acadiana 1-0 to win the Mandeville Tournament. The Cubs also defeated West Monroe 3-1, defeated St. Amant 5-1 and shutout St. Joseph’s Academy 4-0 in the tournament.

West Monroe entered the tournament as the top-ranked team in the Division I power rankings while Acadiana was third and Mount Carmel was fourth. The Cubs (20-1) have now won 14 straight matches. Mount Carmel had lost to Acadiana 2-0 on Nov. 25. Mount Carmel returns to action next Saturday at 2 p.m. against Destrehan at Pan American Stadium.
