Arch Manning throw

The Touchdown Club of Atlanta is proud to announce Arch Manning (Newman High School, New Orleans, LA) the winner of the 2022 Bobby Dodd National Back of the Year Award – presented by REGIONS.

Throughout his high school career, Manning has been a model of consistency and durability as he started 42 of 42 games for the Newman Greenies. His storied career included over 8,600 passing yards and over 140 touchdowns scored. Newman is known for its famous quarterbacks (Among others, his uncles Peyton and Eli both had stellar careers there as well) yet Arch surpassed them all, breaking the school’s records for both career passing yardage and touchdowns thrown. In his senior season he threw for a career best 37 touchdown passes.

Perhaps more important than any of his statistical accomplishments as a passer, Manning was a consistent winner. He won 79% of all his games played and led the Greenies to the playoffs in all 4 of his seasons at the helm.

Having been rated as the consensus #1 player in his class since the day he started as a freshmen, Manning dealt admirably with the pressure and expectations that followed. According to the coaches, teammates, friends and family who know him well, Arch is a fantastic student-athlete who puts the team first, works hard and leads by example. As for what’s next, he will continue his football career at the University of Texas.

In winning this prestigious award, Arch adds to his family’s storied history with the Touchdown Club of Atlanta. His grandfather, Archie, won the club’s Collegiate Back of the Year Award in 1969. Peyton Manning won the Bobby Dodd National Back of the Year Award in 1993. Eli Manning won the club’s Wally Butts SEC Back of the Year Award in 2003.

The Touchdown Club of Atlanta is a non-profit organization established in 1938 that supports High School Football at the local, state and national level. It is among the oldest independent Touchdown Clubs in the nation. The club’s mission is to recognize outstanding achievements in High School Football and providing student athletes with resources to prepare them for life after football, and as future leaders of their communities. The club has awarded over $1million in scholarship funds to deserving male & female student-athletes. The club represents the Atlanta chapter of the National Football Foundation.
