Erin Burkhart

Senior Erin Burkart of Academy of Our Lady has verbally committed to compete in women’s bowling at Mount St. Mary’s University of Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Burkart – whose 182 average ranks second to Bonnabel’s Alahna DeGruy among girls in the New Orleans area prep ranks – will join the fledgling Mount St. Mary’s program, which begins competition in 2018-19 in the Northeast Conference.
She also considered Martin Methodist before choosing Mount St. Mary’s.

In July, Burkart won the girls regular division in the Louisiana Youth Bowling Match Games tournament in Baton Rouge.

Mount St. Mary’s announced it was adding the sport in September and hired Kenneth DeGraaf as its coach last month.

With Burkart bowling in the anchor position in the lineup, AOL is undefeated this season.
