Anderson inside the park home run wins it for Cakes in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs – Brian Anderson led off the 10th inning with an inside the park home run as the New Orleans Baby Cakes rallied to defeat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 6-4, Friday night at Security Service Field.

The win snaps a 13-game road losing streak for the Cakes and marks their first road victory since July 15. New Orleans has won six of their last eight games.

The Cakes trailed 3-1 in the seventh and before sending seven batters to the plate to score three runs and take the lead. The Sox rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.

Anderson drilled a line drive to center field to lead off the 10th. Sox centerfielder Lewis Brinson dove and missed the ball, allowing the Cakes infielder to sprint around the bases for the deciding run.

Steve Lombardozzi led the Cakes with three hits in the 13-hit attack.

GAME NOTES: The inside the park home run for New Orleans was the franchise’s first since Adam Everett accomplished it on July 24, 2002 against Nashville. The game was delayed for 14 minutes due to heavy fog.

UPCOMING-: The ‘Cakes will continue a four-game series at Colorado Springs Saturday at 7:00 p.m. New Orleans will start RHP Mike Kickham against RHP Angel Ventura.
