NEW ORLEANS, La. – Following in Sharan Turner’s footsteps, Bleu Devil senior Malik Amos captured Dillard’s first GCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Award of 2020-21.

Amos fronted the scoring in the New Orleans bubble last week by averaging 20.7 points per game, thanks in part to his season-high 31 points in the win over Edward Waters.

A native of Missouri City, Texas, he logged double-figure point totals in all three matchups while averaging 3.7 assists a night.

The six-foot-one guard went 19-for-46 (0.413) from the field, made six three-pointers and converted on 18-of-20 (0.900) free throw attempts.

Others nominated: Jordan Jackson (Edward Waters), Corey Dunning (Xavier), DeAvion Washington (Rust), Kenneth Perkins (Philander Smith), Datavian Porter (Tougaloo), Darryl Baker (Talladega).
