Amite linebacker Ashton Wilson has been named as the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Prep Player of the Week in the Greater New Orleans area for the final week of the postseason by, Ken Trahan’s Original Prep Football Report on NASH ICON 106.1 FM, the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club and Friday Night Football on WNOL/WGNO.

A senior, Wilson was dominant as the sixth-seeded Warriors upset top seed Many 17-6 in the Class 2A state championship game at Caesars Superdome.

Wilson tallied an amazing 17 tackles, including 1.5 for loss and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the game for the Warriors.

“Ashton is a diamond in the rough,” Amite coach Zephaniah Powell said. “He works extremely hard at his craft. When we put him in the middle, he blossomed. Everything he is getting is well deserved. He was all over the field. He’s the captain of our defense. He will give credit to his defensive line but he played phenomenal.”

Wilson will be honored at the year-end awards meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Dec. 14 at noon at Rock’n’Bowl.
