Tulane to play UConn, USF, UCF, ECU, Memphis, SMU, Cincinnati, Wichita State in home games

NEW ORLEANS – The American Athletic Conference released its 2018-19 women’s basketball conference schedule matrix on Friday, setting up which teams Tulane will face once and which teams the Green Wave will see twice.

The Green Wave will play home-and-away series against UCF, ECU, Memphis, USF and SMU. Only USF remains as a two-time opponent from last season, and USF is the only team Tulane has played twice in all five of its seasons in The American.

Tulane will play Cincinnati, UConn and Wichita State only in New Orleans. This will be the first time in Tulane’s five years in The American that it does not play UConn home and away. Tulane played Wichita State twice last year but will only be facing the Shockers at home in 2018-19.

Meanwhile, Tulane will play Houston, Temple and Tulsa only on the road. Houston and Tulsa were two-game opponents from last year, while the Green Wave hosted Temple but did not travel to Philadelphia in 2017-18.

The 2019 conference tournament will once again be held at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The tournament will be moving back to a Friday-Monday format for this year and is scheduled for March 8-11.

The Tulane women’s basketball team returns 9 of its 12 members from last season including seniors Tatyana Lofton, Ksenija Madzarevic, Meredith Schulte and Harlyn Wyatt. The team has also added four newcomers to the roster. The Green Wave earned the conference’s No. 9 seed last year and advanced to the quarterfinals of the league tournament.

Head coach Lisa Stockton will be entering her 25th year with Tulane in 2018-19. She is seven wins away from 500 at Tulane, and the program is two wins shy of 700 in its history.

Tulane’s full schedule with dates will be announced later in the summer.
