Amani Larry

NEW ORLEANS – Amani Larry added to a decorated season by earning Second Team All-South Region Honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association. The teams were announced on Wednesday morning.

In a stellar season, Amani was one of the leaders for a Privateer offense that landed in the top three in several categories in the conference. The Bossier City native finished third in the league in batting average (.370), first in on-base percentage (.477), first in runs scored (67) and third in RBI (56).

“Amani is a player who gets everything he deserves. His work ethic on and off the field is unmatched. Awards and recognition are always a plus as it rewards you for all the work you have put in,” said head coach Blake Dean.

Larry also had a great Southland Tournament as he went 6-for-15 with two homers, seven RBI and six runs over four games in Hammond.

Defensively, Larry was spectacular as well. He had a fielding percentage of .987 for the year in 230 chances. He was also a part of 42 double plays as he helped the Privateers stay in the top five nationally in that category throughout most of the regular season.

Larry adds this award to his Southland Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection. He ended the season on a 14-game hitting streak and had 26 multi-hit games during the Privateers’ 2022 campaign.

He becomes the fourth Privateer in the Blake Dean era and the 28th in program history to make the All-Region Team. Larry is the first Privateer selected to the ABCA All-Region squad since 2019 (Reeves Martin).
