Allstate Sugar Bowl gives $500 per week to area public school teachers
#TagATeacher Tuesday Allows Anyone to Nominate Teachers for Donors Choose Gift Cards
NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl, as part of its partnership with Extra Yard For Teachers (@CFPExtraYard), is giving away a $500 Donors Choose Gift Card each week through its #TagATeacher social media initiative. The giveaway is open to all Louisiana public school teachers.
Each Tuesday, the Allstate Sugar Bowl will open the nominations with a social media post on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Anyone can then “tag” a Louisiana public school teacher (on any of those three social media platforms) to enter that teacher into a random drawing for the gift card. Simply go to the Sugar Bowl’s official social media pages and respond or reply to the #TagATeacher message on any of the platforms with the teacher’s name, stories or examples that show why the teacher is deserving of recognition, and the #TagATeacher hashtag. Nominations are open until Friday morning at 10 a.m. (Central) when the drawing is conducted.
This weekly giveaway will continue through December 18 for a total of $7,000 so check back every week.
Donors Choose is a national organization which coordinates funds that teachers can use for classroom or student resources and projects that will help to keep kids learning. The College Football Playoff Foundation (@CFPExtraYard) serves as the community-engagement arm of the College Football Playoff (@CFBPlayoff) and works in partnership with institutions of higher education, sports organizations, corporations and nonprofits to support educators and improve U.S. student outcomes. The purpose of the CFP Foundation lies in supporting PK-12 education across the country. The CFP Foundation’s primary platform, Extra Yard for Teachers, is dedicated to elevating the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers in four core areas: resources, recognition, professional development, recruitment and retention.
The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 96 Hall of Fame players, 50 Hall of Fame coaches and 18 Heisman Trophy winners in its 86-year history. The 86th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, which will double as a College Football Playoff Semifinal, is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2021. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1.6 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors thousands of student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.7 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
