Allstate Sugar Bowl announces This Week’s Manning Award Futures Nov 9 2020

NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced this week’s Manning Award Futures – four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. Fans now have the opportunity to go to Twitter (@SugarBowlNola) to vote for their favorite performance of the week.

The Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation on an annual basis, was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. For the past decade, the Sugar Bowl and the Manning Award have recognized top collegiate quarterbacks on a weekly basis.

Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 11/9/20:

Royal Falgout, John Ehret (4-of-4, 156 yards, 2 TDs)
Falgout, a sophomore, was perfect through the air, including a 90-yard touchdown connection and also rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown as the Patriots remained unbeaten with a 62-32 District 8-5A win over East Jefferson at Hoss Memtsas Stadium.

Twillie Lovett, Belle Chasse (3-of-4, 53 yards)
Lovett also runs for 126 yards and three touchdowns as the Cardinals play their first game since Oct. 22 and defeat Helen Cox, 33-6, in a District 9-4A homecoming game.

Buddy Taylor, John Curtis (9-of-15, 99 yards, 1 TD)
Taylor also rushes for 108 yards and four more touchdowns as he leads the Patriots to a 37-3 District 9-5A victory over Holy Cross at Joe Yenni Stadium.

DeVon Tott, Mandeville (20-of-24, 334 yards, 5 TDs)
Tott connected on four long TD passes (29 yards, two of 39 yards and a 63-yarder) as the Skippers held off St. Paul’s, 38-28, in a key District 6-5A battle at Sidney Theriot Stadium.

Kyle Wickersham from Archbishop Rummel was the top Manning Award Futures vote-getter last week. The Richmond committee completed 14-of-19 passes for 306 yards and four touchdown, while also adding a rushing TD as he led the Raiders to a 56-33 District 9-5A win over Holy Cross in Thibodaux.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 96 Hall of Fame players, 50 Hall of Fame coaches and 18 Heisman Trophy winners in its 86-year history. The 87th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, which will double as a College Football Playoff Semifinal, is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2021.
